Christine Larsen

I first met the kids at Estado 29 in February 2003 on a weekend trip with a group from Mariners Church.  Prior to going to Estado 29 I had prayed for a ministry to get involved with.  Although I was excited about going to Mexico I was also hesitant as I did not speak nor understand any Spanish.  It turned out not to be an issue and I loved every minute of being there.  Reflecting on that first trip I was amazed that the kids were so loving and open considering their backgrounds-- most are abandoned or abused by people close to them yet they have such a joy about them and love to play.

That summer I had a job offer which would require moving out of state.  I realized how much I had come to love the kids at Estado 29 and our team and to be able to continue serving and helping in the ministry was a big reason for turning down the job.

God has faithfully provided for Estado 29 for over 40 years.  My dream now is to help raise funds, which will enable every child to receive continued education if they so desire and have the motivation to do so.  To encourage them in the area of education, we have started a monthly student award program, hired a tutor and we work with the kids on their reading and English skills.  If you are interested in helping, please see the details on the website re the Child Sponsorship Program.
